President Trump is due to hold an event in the White House Rose Garden on Wednesday, April 2nd at 4 p.m. ET. to announce his plans for reciprocal tariffs on countries around the world.
These tariffs are expected to be applied to every country that taxes U.S. imports, and will also be used to counteract non-tariff barriers such as vehicle safety rules that exclude U.S. autos, and value-added taxes that increase their cost.
The White House has previously said the tariffs will be enacted on April 2.
Separately, Trump plans to apply 25% tariffs, on top of previous duties, on imports of finished vehicles starting at 12:01 a.m. EDT (0401 GMT) on April 3rd.
He has already imposed tariffs on aluminum and steel, along with increased tariffs on all goods from China.
